Chattanooga celebrates opening of FedEx Ground facility

City representatives, FedEx Ground leadership and members of the EMJ Construction team gathered Wednesday morning to celebrate the grand opening of FedEx Ground distribution facility in Chattanooga, Tenn.
EMJ’s team built the 237,000-square-foot distribution center in partnership with Saad Development Corporation, working in collaboration with Castles Design Group and Anchor Engineering.
The facility is part of FedEx Ground’s strategic investment in its 590-building network “to boost daily package volume capacity and further enhance the speed and service capabilities.”

Located off Interstate 75 and Volkswagen Drive, the facility’s location was chosen for its easy access to major highways, proximity to customer distribution centers and convenience to the local workforce. Company officials said the new facility will enable FedEx to meet growing customer demand in the area.
EMJ’s team completed the project in just eight months, handing the facility to the developer more than two months early. FedEx installed the interior systems and began full operations at the facility in August 2017, employing approximately 200 Chattanooga-area residents.
