Overview
Harbor View is a 120-bed nursing and rehabilitation center located on a former industrial site. The EMJ team constructed the light gauge metal framing and steel hybrid structure and performed the interior build-out complete with private and semi-private suites, an Alzheimer’s wing, an oxygen wing, and a medical vacuum wing. EMJ’s scope also included the installation of a back-up generator that provides redundant electrical power.

Creative solutions to soil complications aid construction experience
During site evaluation, the soil content was deemed unsuitable due to a large ratio of debris and organics. To remediate the site, the plans called for substantial undercut and backfill with select import material.
The EMJ preconstruction team researched alternate options and developed a remediation method that involved separation and removal of the debris through an on-site filtration system that could be performed in conjunction with the earthwork.
Unique Value:
As a result of implementing our team’s creative solution, the project was completed 10 weeks ahead of schedule and delivered $175,000 in savings to the client.
