WIC Week™, or Women in Construction Week™, celebrates and promotes the role of women in the construction industry.
This week, EMJ joins the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) in celebrating women industry-wide and, more specifically, the ones here at our company.
Women have made significant contributions to construction and the work we do at EMJ wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of the many women here.
“I am proud of the progress we have made but we still have much work to do—not only as a company but also as an industry,” said Heather Collins, EVP of People and IT. “There has never been a better time to get into construction! There are plenty of jobs, available training, and opportunities to grow.”
During this week, EMJ encourages women who are interested in pursuing a career in construction to explore the many opportunities available in this exciting and dynamic field. Whether it’s in preconstruction, project management, engineering, architecture, or skilled trades, there’s a role for women in construction.
NAWIC held the first WIC Week in 1998 and it has grown and expanded each year since. Many local chapters hold WIC Week events. This year’s theme, ‘Keys to the Future’, celebrates the strength and knowledge of women and the vital role they play in shaping the future of the construction industry.
By visiting Women in Construction Week, you can find events and panels in which to participate, as well as information on the day’s theme, educational resources, highlighted events, and more.
“We are proud to be part of an industry that values diversity, innovation, and hard work,” said Collins. “EMJ will continue to work with women and men from all backgrounds to make us stronger through diversity of thought.”
